Traditional Thai Desserts

I love Thai desserts and that is probably one of the best things about living here in Thailand. You can see two of my favourites in this picture which are the "golden sweets". These actually had their origin in Portugal but have been in Thailand for so long that most Thai people think it is their own. They are made from the yolks of duck eggs and cooked with thick syrup.
Thai Fruit

I consider myself very lucky to be living in Thailand. Not only is the weather great but we also have plenty of delicious fruit. This is the real thing that you can buy at markets throughout Thailand. Rambutan, lychees, longan, papaya, pineapple, sapodilla, durian and watermelon are some of my favourites. They are all cheap to buy.
Khanom Jaak

One of the famous desserts for Samut Prakan Province is Khanom Jaak. The dessert is prepared inside the leaves of a nipa palm and then roasted over a charcoal fire. The ingredients include sticky rice flour, palm sugar and shredded coconut. A bundle of this costs about 20 baht.
