Koh Lipe in Satun

There are many beautiful islands that can be explored in Tarutao National Marine Park in Satun Province. One of the most popular islands to stay on is this one called Koh Lipe. This is Pattaya Beach and they even had a Walking Street. The island has a variety of accommodation from a few hundred to close on 20,000 baht a night. It is a bit like Koh Samet in Rayong but a lot less crowded. Someone said it is like Koh Samui 30 years ago.
Limestone Cliffs in Trang

Trang Province, bordering the Andaman Sea, has many spectacular limestone cliffs and white sandy beaches. Now that it has its own airport, you will start to see people coming to the islands offshore here rather than to overcrowded destinations like Phuket and Krabi.
White Sandy Beach in Thailand

During my recent holiday to the South of Thailand, I visited some white sandy beaches in Satun Province. All of the islands here are like the one in this picture. I had a wonderful time. I felt a thousand miles away from the protests in Bangkok. The only Reds I saw here were tourists who had been in the sun too long! The next time you are in Thailand, don't forget to visit the secluded islands in Trang and Satun.
Snorkelling in Satun

Last weekend I flew down to the south of Thailand for a three-day break on the beaches and islands in Trang and Satun. While there I had a really enjoyable time snorkelling in the crystal clear water of the Tarutao National Marine Park. Both the coral and fish here were really colourful.
Sunset in Satun

Over the weekend I had a three day holiday on the islands of Trang and Satun. I had a really great time and saw some really stunning scenery. This was a typical sunset on the islands there. This one was taken at Koh Lipe in Tarutao National Marine Park in Satun Province.
All Quiet at Erawan Shrine

This is the famous Erawan Shrine in Bangkok at the Ratchaprasong Intersection. Thousands of tourists and local people come to this shrine every day to pray and wish for good luck. It is always teeming with life. I have never seen it so empty as it has been this last few weeks. But due to the red shirts occupying the intersection and closing all roads, the shrine hasn't had that many visitors. But, it is still open.
For the Love of the Country

Something that is happening in Thailand now is that a new group of people are emerging. Not Red or Yellow. They say that they don't represent any colours. They say that they understand that there is a need for change. But they just don't agree with the way the Reds are going about it.
Thai Soldiers in Bangkok

The situation with the Red Shirts in Bangkok seems to be growing worse every day. At present, the Reds occupy the Ratchaprasong Intersection and the Thai Army occupy Silom. This is a picture I took of some soldiers in riot gear standing underneath BTS Sala Daeng. One of them has a shotgun with buckshot and the other an M16.

A Wine Valley in Thailand

When I first heard about wine growing in Thailand I was really surprised. It is not something that you would associate with its tropical weather. But, the climate in the hills of the Khao Yai area are apparently perfect for growing grapes. This is one of the wineries that I visited there last year called PB Valley Khao Yai Winery. You can join tours of their vineyard.
